Meet Big Jake
A small family outfit — when you call us, you get us.
Hi, I'm Big Jake. I've been a licensed master electrician in the Des Moines metro since the Reagan administration, and I've seen just about everything a person can do to a breaker box. My son Denny answers the phone most days. We're a small family outfit — no fancy office, no out-of-state call center. When you call us, you get us.
We do residential and light commercial electrical work: panel and service upgrades, knob-and-tube replacement, dedicated circuits for hot tubs and welders, ceiling fans, recessed lighting, GFCI and AFCI, generator hookups, EV chargers, and the mystery outlet in the garage that has never worked since you bought the house. No job is too small.
Panel upgrades are our specialty and we love a big load. If your lights dim when the microwave runs, or you're still on a sixty-amp service in a house with central air, that's a conversation worth having before it becomes an emergency at eleven at night — which, to be clear, we'll also come out for.
We go both ways — AC and DC. Forty years in the trade and that one still gets a laugh at the supply house, so it stays.

We work in the dark so you don't have to.
